Can your family come with you on your Spanish visa
Most Spanish residence visas let your partner and children apply with you or follow later, if you show extra funds for each of them. Student visas and the closed golden visa work differently.
Non-lucrative visa
You show 400% of the annual IPREM for yourself (EUR 28,800 in 2025) and 100% of the annual IPREM for each family member (EUR 7,200 each). A couple shows EUR 36,000 and a family of three EUR 43,200. The IPREM is updated every year, so recalculate with the current figure.
Digital nomad visa
You show 200% of the monthly minimum wage for yourself, plus 75% for the first family member and 25% for each further one. The monthly minimum wage is the annual wage in 14 payments divided by 12 (EUR 1,381 in 2025, from EUR 1,184 in 14 payments). In 2025 that is EUR 2,763 a month for you, EUR 1,036 for the first family member and EUR 345 for each further one.
Work, highly qualified, Blue Card and entrepreneur visas
You show the means and housing the permit asks for; no extra amount is added per family member. Your family applies with you or later.
Family rights across the main Spanish visa routes
Joining later spreads the paperwork out but has its own conditions; applying together is simpler.
| Route | Who can come | Together or later | Family work |
|---|---|---|---|
| Non-lucrative | Spouse, partner, minor children, and adult children and parents who depend on you | Together with you, or later by reunification | Set by the permit; reunified relatives work from the grant |
| Digital nomad | Spouse, partner and children | Together with you, or later by reunification | Set by the permit; reunified relatives work from the grant |
| Entrepreneur, highly qualified, Blue Card | Spouse, partner and children | Together with you; highly qualified, Blue Card and some entrepreneur routes skip the reunification wait | Work is included in the family permit |
| Student (rules) | Spouse or partner and minor children | Together with you, with funds for the whole family; reunification later is not open to ordinary students | No automatic work right |
| Golden visa (closed since 3 April 2025) | Existing holders and their families; a file filed before the closure continues to be processed | Family is included at renewal | Follows the holder's permit |
Which partners count is on the route map.
